Our Christmas 2010 Special Offer

Martinstown House at Christmas time is special. Nowhere else can replicate the beautiful experience of a truly Victorian-style Christmas. With roaring log fires and perfect seasonal decoration and cheer, Martinstown House is the ideal venue for your Christmas. Built in the Strawberry Gothic style to plan by noted Victorian architect Decimus Burton, the house is beautifully decorated and appointed. Every modern comfort is provided: from electric blankets to an extensive dvd library (as well as a traditional library), but the essential design remains untouched. In the winter, the garden is touched with frost and the fields appear to shimmer white, and if the current weather persists then we’ll have the very whitest of Christmases. From your private sitting room with its own tree and open fire, to complimentary present stocking for children under 12, this is a very special event.

CHRISTMAS PACKAGE

Christmas Eve
Arrive in the afternoon on the 24th and start the celebrations with mulled wine and delicious homemade mince pies or a traditional afternoon tea.
Then explore the many lovely walks and gardens and visit our donkeys (Clancy and Theadore) or the chickens and sheep, or simply relax in one of our comfortable sitting rooms.
Before dinner, join us for a Champagne reception in the drawing room in front of huge log fires.
This will be followed by a lavish five-course Candlelit Dinner.
We have arranged transport to the beautiful Carmelite Church in Kildare for midnight mass for anyone who wishes to attend.
Finish up the day’s celebrations with some Irish coffees.

Christmas Day
Start the celebrations with a delicious Champagne Breakfast.
Open your presents or just relax while we take the strain out of your Christmas Day Lunch, complete with all the trimmings (including the best sprouts you will ever taste).
Following lunch have a well-deserved afternoon nap in your luxurious bedroom, or collapse in front of the fire and join us later in the evening for a light supper and more celebrations.

St. Stephen’s Day
After a leisurely, sumptuous brunch why not follow The Kildare Hounds as they hold their traditional meet starting out in Dunlavin?
Or perhaps a round of golf on The Curragh Golf Course, the oldest course in Ireland.
Or take advantage of our excellent location and bag a bargain in The Kildare Village outlet centre.
Then join us for a relaxed evening buffet before retiring.
Wake up to another delicious breakfast before departing.

So, firstly, apologies for not keeping this as up to date as I’d have liked. Everything seems to take a lot more time online than I’d ever imagined. Anyway, after a summer punctuated by two weddings at Martinstown, we’ve had Confetti Magazine come to do a photo shoot at the house.

We’re incredibly proud that we were chosen as a location, and hopefully the photo’s will come out well, and do the house justice.

Anyway, the weather has gone mad, but the house always looks fantastic in the snow. Here’s a photo from the last time the world went white.
